Kisi bhi samaaj ka sabse bada jo sawaal hai, woh yeh hai ki collectivity ke taur par . . . vyakti ek dusre ke saathh kaise reh sakta hai? . . . Yeh sawal jab humne kiya toh ek dusra sawal utthke khada hota hai . . . ye 'hum' kaun hai, saathh milkar kahaan rehna hai—uski koi boundary hai, uski koi sima hain? Woh kya hai?

In this talk delivered at our latest conference, The Idea of Democracy Chapter 2, Ludhiana, Apoorvanand takes a meandering, fascinating route from Jaishankar Prasad to the protests in Iran in pursuit of the idea of what it means to live together in a democracy, and the delicate balance between maintaining equality for 'all' and the individuality of 'each' that, for him, defines democracy.
